made me smile | a mobile greenhouse teaches kids sustainability

Compass Green; a mobile greenhouse that runs on waste vegetable oil

compass green is an idea of nick runkle and justin cutter; it is a way of delivering information on sustainability and biointensive mini-farming to people who don’t have access to this kind of information, or who aren’t already aware about sustainability. it as already travelled throughtout the states talking to gardeners [or to-be gardeners], urban and rural farmers, and outdoor circus.

the back of the truck has two raised beds where nick and justin grow plants like broccoli, lettuces, and chards. they use the beds to show visitors what they are growing and also for little workshop on seed sowing and transplanting.

they teach all ages, but they tend to focus on children and high schools and universities, because they can talk more deeply about sustainability with the last ones.
