made me smile | in-ei lamps

in-ei lamps by issey miyake

these lamps put together three characteristics i always look for in interior design objects: customisable, made from recycled materials, and beautiful. is there anything more you can ask for?

created by issey miyake for artemide, the in-ei lamps are made with a special textile capable of mantaining 3d shapes, result of a research about materials and technologies. the fabric is made by a recycled fiber that comes from pet bottles; it is made possible by a new technology, that reduced energy consumption by 40% and co2 emissions. the material is more transparent than paper and the lamps can mantain their shape without any internal structure; it is the folding tecnique that creates sufficiently resistant solids that can be re-shaped anytime without problems. this way, when you don`t use them you can keep them folded!

i think they are incredible beautiful and inspiring, don`t you?
